Performance-based Management and Maintenance of Roads (PMMR) is a new way of effectively and efficiently preserve road assets that is rapidly evolving around the world. It has started to replace the traditional method-based contracting of road maintenance more than a decade ago.
This website is designed to provide an overview of the development of PMMR worldwide, to put PMMR into the context of the Road Sector Reform that is taking place in several countries around the world and to make available the latest documents and presentations on PMMR in order to assist practitioners to develop and implement PMMR in their respective countries.
The development of this website was inspired by the German development programme "Financial and Institutional Reform of Road Maintenance in Latin America and the Caribbean" that was jointly implemented by the German Development Corporation (GTZ) ,the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean of the United Nations (UN-ECLAC), the International Road Federation (IRF), and the Organization of American States (OAS), in cooperation with the World Bank (WB) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
